The Tunisian president is asking for the former national security adviser

On Thursday, Tunisian President Kais Saied asked Ridha Gharsallaoui, a former national security adviser to the presidency, to temporarily take charge of the Interior Ministry until a new government can be formed.

The announcement was published on the official website of the Tunisian Presidency.

Ridha Gharsallaoui was sworn in in her interim role by the President of the Republic, in accordance with Article 89 of the Constitution.

Saied on Sunday invoked a national emergency to take control of the government, fire the prime minister and freeze parliament in moves his opponents called a coup.

Tunisia is awaiting the appointment of a new prime minister and the announcement of a roadmap to find a way out of the crisis.

“I tell you and the whole world that I am committed to implementing the text of the Constitution and more than those of rights and freedoms,” Saied said.

“No one has been arrested. No one has been deprived of their rights, but the law is fully enforced,” he added.

Proponents of her case have been working to make the actual transcript of this statement available online. Proponents of her case have been working to make the actual transcript of this statement available online.

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said on Thursday that he had called on Saied to take measures to return the country “to the democratic path”.
