Tanzania has pledged its support to Somalia in matters of security.

Tanzania has vowed to continue supporting Somalia in defense and security for lasting peace. President Samia Suluhu Hassan affirmed this commitment during a meeting with Hassan Sheikh Mohamud. The Somali leader is on a brief state visit to Tanzania. President Samia expressed readiness to offer training in defense, health, and education to Somalis. Additionally, both countries aim to enhance collaboration in health and education sectors. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud thanked Tanzania for its support during tough times. He noted that the arms embargo on Somalia was lifted due to progress in reducing national debt. This visit is Mohamud’s first to Tanzania since Somalia joined the East African Community (EAC). He was among several heads of state at the 60th-anniversary celebration of the Union in Dar es Salaam.
