Somali Prime Minister calls for unity to defeat terrorism after the death of 4 footballers

MOGADISHU, Somalia – Somali Prime Minister Mohamed Roble called on Somalis to unite to defeat terrorism after four footballers were killed in an IED explosion on Friday.

Roble condemned the terrorist attack in the town of Kismayo in the Lower Jubba region of Jubaland state and called for an immediate end to hostilities between the two sides.

“I extend my condolences to the families of the victims, to the administration and to the people of Jubaland. Terrorist acts must not prevent us from achieving our goal of peace and state-building, ”he said in a statement released on Friday evening.

Four people were killed and ten others injured in a terrorist attack targeting a bus carrying football players to a stadium in the southern city of Kismayo, Jubaland.

Roble called on the Somali people to unite against al-Shabaab terrorists who are against the peace and development of their country.

The Prime Minister wished a speedy recovery to all those injured in the last attack which occurred after the elections for representatives of the Upper House.

No group has claimed responsibility for the roadside bombing, although al-Shabab, which fights the government, usually carries out such attacks.
