Somali parliament approves federal finances of practically $ 1 billion for 2022

Mogadishu  – Somalia’s parliament authorised a virtually $ 20 billion federal finances for 2022 in a 3 consecutive heated joint session in Mogadishu on Thursday.

Finance Minister Abdirahman Ducale Beyle answered questions from lawmakers about audits and public spending. Lawmakers have accused the ministry of failing to submit audits to parliament over the previous 4 years. According to House Speaker Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur Madobe, 204 MPs voted in favor, two MPs abstained and two MPs objected.

“After three days of intense debate in parliament and weeks of discussions with the Houses of Parliament’s Joint Finance Committee, the 2022 budget has been approved by lawmakers. We can now move on to implementing the budget for the benefit of the people of Somalia,” the minister mentioned.
