President Mohamud’s spokesman denies that Somalia has adopted Egypt’s place on the GERD dispute

Mogadishu – The spokesperson of Villa Somalia, Abdikarin Ali Kaar, mentioned that the presidents of Egypt and Somalia didn’t share any official frequent place on the building and filling of the Great Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) on the Blue Nile.

Kaar’s feedback come a day after Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud paid a high-level state go to to Cairo to talk about regional points with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Speaking to reporters alongside President Mohamud, El-Sisi mentioned Ethiopia’s building of the dam with out consulting regional stakeholders was “dangerous” and insinuated that the Somali president agreed with Egypt’s place.

An announcement launched by the Egyptian president’s workplace after the assembly revealed that the 2 leaders mentioned the safety of the Red Sea and the Ethiopian Renaissance Dam and agreed to “strengthen coordination and joint intensive consultations to follow up on these developments.”

But on Tuesday, Villa Somalia’s spokesman mentioned President Mohamud didn’t make clear Somalia’s place on the Nile in the course of the joint press convention in Cairo.

Kaar added that Somalia’s authorities’s place is to advocate that each one events observe the worldwide legal guidelines that regulate Nile water use.
