KDF kills militant Al-Shabaab in Kenya Wooded area

NAIROBI, Kenya – Special Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) soldiers stormed the Al-Shabaab camp in Boni Forest on Sunday in a stinging operation that saw them kill more militants and destroy their hideout.

High-ranking security sources confirmed the incident to Nation and shared photos and videos of the operation’s demand.

The number of terrorists killed was not immediately clear, but the nation counted up to four bodies from the photos our sources shared.

During the operation, the soldiers recovered a variety of equipment, including hand grenades, several rounds of ammunition, mini-solar panels and radios.

The soldiers also found Islamic literature and clothing in the camp.

In the humble attack on the Shabaab group, the Kenyan soldiers took time to destroy the camp and burned some of the equipment.

From the video clips taken in the camp, there were several bags believed to belong to the terrorists, indicating that there were more than the number of killed.

The Special Forces’ operation came just a week after suspected Al-Shabaab militants staged a daring attack on Border Patrol Unit officers escorting passengers along Lamu-Gamba Road in Nyongoro.

Police officers engaged the militants in a gun battle that saw the attackers flee into the thick Boni forest.

Since the attack, a stinging operation was launched to hunt down the attackers who were believed to have crossed from Somalia through Garissa and then to Tana River County.

An intelligence report had revealed that the militants were planning to carry out attacks targeting police officers and important security installations within the Lamu and Tana rivers.

Security is strengthened

After the attack, the regional security chiefs on the coast said security would be strengthened during this holiday season.

“All our security forces are deployed in the key areas. You heard our officers the other day repeal an attack from these people, and that was because of our officer’s readiness. We have things under control, ”said Coastal Regional Commissioner John Elungata as he spoke about safety preparations this high season.

He confirmed that the terrorists had been persecuted since the December 20 attack.

This year, KDF and police officers in Lamu – who have been the target of the al-Shabaab attacks – have managed to tame the attacks.

Since the beginning of the year, only the terrorists managed to carry out two attacks on the coast, both of which took place in January.

Among the two attacks was the one in Manda Bay training camp, where five Al-Shabaab terrorists were killed. Three Americans were also killed during the attack.

The second attack was aimed at passenger cars, in which three people were killed and three others wounded after an ambush by the militants on the buses on their way to Lamu from Mombasa.
