ECOWAS notes a “positive development” but

End on Saturday in Accra at the summit of heads of state and government in ECOWAS member countries. The situation in Mali occupied some of the debates. The meeting noted the progress made by the transitional authorities, but there is no doubt at the moment to repeal the repeal measure that has plagued Mali since the recent coup.

as reported from Bamako, Serge Daniel

The Heads of State of Accra listened attentively to the report by Good Luck Jonathan, ECOWA’s Special Envoy for Mali. The meeting room was attended by Jean-Claude Kassi Brou, President of the Commission of the Subregional Institution.

“According to the mediator’s report, this is a positive development, and it is still encouraging. A Civilian Prime Minister has been appointed in accordance with the decision of the Heads of State. A government has been appointed and installed. ”

But no blank check for the transfer to the Malian authorities. The country’s repeal has not yet been repealed. A monitoring mechanism will be introduced.

“The monitoring mechanism will make it possible to work closely with the Malian authorities to implement the roadmap leading to the elections,” continued Jean-Claude Kassi Brou.

It is clear that the organization at all costs for the presidential and legislative elections in February 2022 as planned.

But in Accra, heads of state – like the Ivorian Alassane Dramane Ouattara – have also appealed to Mali’s bilateral and multilateral partners to support this country, which is undergoing a multidimensional crisis.
