Bombings in Somalia kill not less than 20 individuals

Mogadishu – At least 20 individuals, together with the mayor of Merca city Abdullahi Ali Wafow, have been killed in two explosions within the Lower Shabelle area on Wednesday.

The first assault was a suicide bomb concentrating on officers in town of Merca, which killed not less than 13 individuals, together with the mayor, whereas numerous individuals have been wounded, officers stated.

The Islamist militant group al-Shabaab claimed accountability for the lethal assault.

Southwestern state president Abdiasis Mahamed Laftagareen condemned the suicide bombings and the mayor’s killing, calling him “one of the best civil servants” in Somalia.

The second assault was a landmine explosion that rocked a busy livestock market in Afgoye city, killing seven individuals and injuring greater than 14 others.
