The Victory Alliance, the opposition coalition that wanted to nominate a single candidate, officially invested in Théophile Bongoro on Monday.
At the same time, in another room in the Chadian capital, opposition political parties and civil society associations met for a civic reflection of the nation’s living forces with the goal of a new regime and a new republic.
At this meeting we saw human rights defenders like Dobian Assingar, Mahamat Nour Ibedou, trade unionists like Barka Michel, Younous Mahadjir and politicians like Gali Ngoteet Masra Succès.
Later in the afternoon, the Border Socialist Party, which nominated former minister and rebel leader Yaya Dillo Djerou as a candidate, received support from 13 political parties.
This close relative of the head of state is the second co-owner of the president of the republic, declaring himself a candidate for the presidential election in April next year. A first, if the Supreme Court validates these candidacies, which in addition helps to disperse the anti-Idriss Déby opposition.
