la Céna announces re-election of Patrice Talon

According to preliminary results announced Tuesday night by the Autonomous National Electoral Commission, Beninese president Patrice Talon was re-elected in the first round of the presidential election with 86% of the vote and a turnout of 50.17%.

According to preliminary figures announced by Céna, Patrice Talon and his helmsman Mariam Chabi Talata won the presidential election with more than 86% of the votes cast, or almost 2 million votes. The head of state “receives from the first round an absolute majority of the votes cast”, specifies the election commission.

Duman Soumanou / Hounkpèdu from the FCBE party came in second with just over 11% of the vote. In third place, Corentin Kohoué and Irénée Agossa account for just over 2% of the votes cast.

The Election Commission has also announced a level of 50.17% at national level. This participation was one of the challenges in this election, which was held in the absence of the major opposition figures who could not participate.

After confirming on Sunday that the vote could not be held in 16 of the 546 districts in the country, due to pre-election tensions in the center, Cena finally corrected: only 13 districts are affected.

These preliminary results must now be transferred to the Constitutional Court, which is responsible for announcing the final results of the vote. La Céna finally recalls that these findings can be appealed to the same court.
