Former Senate President Alexis Thambwe Mwamba and former Quaestor Eric Rubuye are now on this list. They are accused of financial advances during their time in the Senate office.

The two men are requested by the Court of Cassation. The transfer of the allegations about them was made just a few days ago, an extra time to deliver their conclusions was granted to the special commission working with archives from the senators whose immunity could be lifted to answer to justice.

The Commission will therefore be able to continue examining the case of Augustin Matata Ponyo. The former prime minister from 2012 to 2016 is suspected of embezzling funds for the Bukanga Lonzo agro-industrial park, and the Prime Minister’s Minister of Justice is still demanding that his parliamentary immunity be waived.

Last weekend, President Felix Tshisekedi received a group of senators from the Holy Union and urged them not to obstruct justice.
