The military prosecutor of the Libyan government of national unity ( GNA ) issued an arrest warrant Thursday against Marshal Khalifa Haftar, who launched an offensive against the Libyan capital, according to the text of the mandate published by the media office of the GNA .
The prosecutor ordered the arrest of Mr. Haftar and six of his officers, accused of air raids against civilian facilities and neighborhoods. The decision comes in response to an arrest warrant issued by Haftar’s National Libyan Army ( ANL ) on April 11 , against GNA leader Fayez al-Sarraj and other government officials.
The envoy of the UN in Libya, Ghassan Salame, warned Thursday against a “flashover” in Libya after the launch by the Marshal Khalifa Haftar an offensive on Tripoli, “encouraged” by it by the international divisions .
In an exclusive interview with AFP in Tripoli, Salamé said that the offensive launched on April 4 by the Libyan National Army ( ANL , self-proclaimed) against the capital, seat of the Government of National Unity ( GNA ) of Fayez al-Sarraj, recognized by the international community, had reached a “dead end”.
