Bayern Eliminates Amrabat From Contention, Claiming He's Drawing Closer To Barca - What On Earth?

The Moroccan midfielder has already made his decision on the jersey number he will wear as a player for Manchester United. Amrabat has opted for number 4, which is the same number he wears for the Moroccan national team.

Recently, Manchester United announced the official numbers for the 2023/24 season, including those assigned to their new signings: Reguilon (15), Hojlund (11), Bayindir (1), and Jonny Evans (35).

The only number that remained unconfirmed was the number chosen by their latest signing, Sofyan Amrabat, who is an international player from Morocco. Manchester United has now confirmed, through a statement on their official website, that Amrabat will wear the number 4 jersey this season.

The number 4 was previously worn by Phil Jones, whose contract with the club expired last summer. As a center-back, Jones wore the number 4 for 12 seasons since joining the club from Blackburn Rovers in 2011.

Prior to Jones, the number 4 jersey was worn by players like Veron, Heinze, and Owen Hargreaves during their time at Manchester United. Hargreaves, in particular, spent four seasons wearing the number 4 and experienced success, winning the Premier League and the Champions League.

During his time at Fiorentina, Amrabat wore the number 34 jersey. He made a total of 107 official appearances in Serie A for the Italian club.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who previously played for Utrecht, could make his debut for Manchester United in mid-September. The team will be hosting Brighton at Old Trafford in matchday five of the Premier League.
