Al Ahli Initiates Negotiations for Rodrigo de Paul’s Transfer
According to reports from Fabrizio Romano and Matteo Moretto, Al Ahli, a Saudi club, have initiated negotiations with Atletico Madrid for the transfer of Rodrigo de Paul. While Atletico Madrid has not completely ruled out the possibility of the deal, they are hesitant about letting the Argentinian midfielder leave easily. De Paul was brought to La Liga from Serie A club Udinese for a fee of approximately 35 million euros.
Al Ahli’s attempts to sign Piotr Zielinski from Napoli to strengthen their midfield have been unsuccessful, leading them to pursue another former Serie A player, Rodrigo de Paul. It has been confirmed that talks have commenced between Al Ahli and Atletico Madrid to explore the availability of the Argentine midfielder, who was acquired for 35 million euros from Udinese.
Currently, de Paul’s market value stands at 54.5 million euros. Although Atletico Madrid is open to negotiations, they are expected to make it challenging for the midfielder to leave their squad under the management of Cholo Simeone.
De Paul started in both of Atletico Madrid’s matches this season against Granada and Real Betis. He has consistently found himself in the starting line-up under his coach’s guidance in previous seasons as well.
As of now, there is no public statement from the player regarding this transfer rumor. If de Paul expresses his approval of the deal, he would join a team that already boasts several top players from major leagues, including Edouard Mendy (former Chelsea goalkeeper), Roberto Firmino (former Liverpool striker), Riyad Mahrez (former Manchester City striker), Allan Saint-Maximin (former Newcastle star), Franck Kessie (former Barcelona midfielder), and Rober Ibanez and Merih Demiral (former defenders from Roma and Atalanta respectively).
