Hugues Fabrice Zango achieves his dream. The Burkinabe secured his first world title in triple jump at the Athletics World Championships in Budapest on Monday, August 21, 2023.

After winning bronze in Doha in 2019 and silver in Eugene last year, Hugues Fabrice Zango now claims gold. With a jump measuring 17.64 meters, the Burkinabe athlete captures his first world title at the Athletics World Championships in Budapest.

This is Burkina Faso’s first gold medal in the history of athletics world championships. The Burkinabe athlete secured the victory on his fifth attempt, beating out two Cuban athletes, Lázaro Martínez Santray (17.41m) and Cristian Atanay Nápoles (17.40m).

Algerian athlete Yasser Triki, a finalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, finishes 5th with a jump of 17.01 meters.
