The other qualifier from Group E, alongside Ghana, is Angola (9 points). The Palancas Negras managed to secure the second qualifying spot for AFCON 2023 after a goalless draw against Madagascar.

Angola was held to a 0-0 draw by Madagascar in the final qualification match for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) 2023 in Group E, on Thursday evening at Estádio Nacional da Tundavala.

The draw ensured Angola’s qualification for the AFCON 2023 finals as the group’s second-place team, behind Ghana, who also advanced to the tournament after defeating the Central African Republic 2-1 on Thursday in Kumasi.

Meanwhile, Madagascar concluded an unsuccessful qualification campaign without winning a single match, finishing fourth in Group B with three points from six matches.

The Palancas Negras put pressure on the Barea’s defense right from the start, but the home team struggled to convert their attempts in the first half, resulting in a goalless score at halftime.

Therefore, Pedro Goncalves made two substitutions before the start of the second half, bringing in experienced forwards Helder Costa and Gelson.

However, the Malagasy defense, led by Théodin Ramanjary, held strong until the referee blew the final whistle. The match ended in a goalless draw (0-0) for both teams.
