President Tinubu Commends Security Forces for Rescuing Abducted Schoolgirls
In a recent statement, President Bola Tinubu praised Nigeria’s security forces for their swift action in securing the release of dozens of schoolgirls abducted in the northwestern state of Kebbi on November 17. The president emphasized that while this operation was successful, continued efforts are necessary to bring home other victims who have been taken captive across the region.

The kidnapping incident in Kebbi triggered a wave of concern, leading to what some authorities have termed “copycat kidnappings” in neighboring states. However, the situation has shown signs of improvement in adjacent areas. In Kwara State, all 38 victims of a recent abduction have been freed, ensuring their safe return to families and communities. Meanwhile, officials in Niger State announced a significant breakthrough, revealing that 50 students from a Catholic school managed to escape from their captors, further alleviating fears over the spate of abductions.
The ongoing crisis of school kidnappings in Northern Nigeria remains a pressing issue, highlighted by these recent events. President Tinubu’s acknowledgment of the security forces’ role underscores the Nigerian government’s commitment to addressing this challenge, while also reflecting the deep-rooted societal concerns surrounding student safety in schools. With the impact of such incidents resonating throughout communities, the call for enhanced security measures becomes increasingly critical.
