Sergio Ramos is undergoing medical treatment

Sergio Ramos’ move to Paris Saint-Germain is nearing completion with the Spaniard to undergo a doctor’s deal before signing a two-year deal.

It was recently confirmed that Ramos would not extend his stay at Real Madrid and end a trophy-laden 16-year stint at the club.

The former Real captain claimed that he intended to sign new terms at the Santiago Bernabeu – a move that would have seen him stay in Madrid until 2022 – but the offer from the club had been removed from the table when he decided to accept the deal.

Since the news of his resignation became widely known, a number of European clubs have been credited with an interest in the veteran defender, but PSG have still remained as leaders in the race to secure his signature.

The move is now one step closer to becoming a reality, with The Guardian reporting that Ramos will undergo a doctor’s appointment before signing a two-year deal at the Parc des Princes.

While Ramos undoubtedly has a great deal of experience after playing top-level football for the past 17 years, questions remain about his fitness.

Spain’s international played only once for Real in the last two months of the 2020/21 season due to injury, and even then he took a knock in their Champions League semi-final defeat to Chelsea.

If Ramos can stay in shape, he will add experience and quality to the PSG backline when they look to fight for their Ligue 1 title outside Lille and compete in the Champions League.

Les Parisiens has wasted no time at all in making any major moves this summer, and Ramos’ signing is expected to be confirmed along with the arrival of talented Milan youngster Gianluigi Donnarumma and Inter Achraf Hakimi.

Mauricio Pochettino’s squad has also already been strengthened by Georginio Wijnaldum’s signing, while the club are working on a deal to secure Moise Kean from Everton after his impressive loan spell last season.
